Decision Time

So, I’ve decided that we need a new oven. Paul thinks that our old oven is fine, but as the major user of the oven, my opinion has more weight. It came to a head recently when I realised that the built in grill only has two working settings, off and blast everything to charcoal in two minutes. I did get a man out to look at it, but it’s still not right. It’s getting on a bit, so it’s going. This means that I have spent a lot of time ogling ovens online. I’ve narrowed it down to three so I’ll go to a showroom soon because I do like to have a play with potential purchases before I commit myself. I might even replace the microwave that’s above it. It works okay, but the timer goes backwards, i.e. I have to wind anticlockwise. All this is a distraction from writing. I stare at the page but all I can think about is self-cleaning ovens, seperate grills, and why do some people pay so much for an oven? My mother had an oven that lasted her for decades. She was never a great cook, but she kept us alive with what she produced on it. She’d laugh at me for spending so much time researching an oven.
