Don’t get excited, the new arrivals are my author copies of Baby Blues and my new oven. At last I have a properly working oven! I’m very pleased with it. Now I can cook things without feeling like a cave dweller crouched before an open fire, guarding the food so the intense heat of the flames can’t consume it. I have been informed that my excitement over an oven makes me officially old and somewhat sad. I don’t care. I have a lovely new oven and it makes me happy. While all this activity was taking place, my author copies of Baby Blues arrived. The packaging was a mess, so bad that the Royal Mail put it in a plastic bag with a letter of apology and an offer to compensate me for any damage. Luckily there was no damage to the contents but I’m curious as to what happened to it. I know the lovely Pete and Simon from Burning Chair would never have sent it out like that. One thing that does make me sad is that I can’t give a copy to my Mum. It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since we lost her. Anyway, I have book four to working on. It’s been coming on, but there’s a bit part that just isn’t working. I’ve have to trim almost 10,000 words to sort it out. I doubt I’ll be getting any writing done for a few weeks. It’s the summer holidays and the grandkids will be here all day most days. I won’t even be able to write in the evenings because, much as I love them, by the time they’ve gone home, my brain is scrambled. I’ll just kick back and dream of my cruise in October.
